A short history of Marvel and DC action figures
- 1972: Mego launches World’s Greatest Super-Heroes, cloth-costumed figures that put Marvel and DC heroes side by side.
- 1984: Kenner’s Super Powers Collection and Mattel’s Secret Wars arrive, now two of the most collected superhero lines of the decade.
- 1990s: Toy Biz’s X-Men and Spider-Man lines, tied to the animated series, become a staple for a generation of collectors.
- 2002: Toy Biz launches Marvel Legends, setting the standard for highly articulated superhero figures. Hasbro takes over the line in 2007.
- 2000s and 2010s: Hot Toys and Sideshow turn superhero collecting into high-end, screen-accurate art.
- 2020: McFarlane Toys takes over the DC license with DC Multiverse.
